TubInTrain PhD programme in Chemistry and Biology of Neurodegeneration - OPEN CALL October 7th - December 2nd

TubInTrain, phd position open, PhD programme in Chemistry and Biology of Neurodegeneration

The research methodologies and approaches proposed by the TubInTrain consortium are strongly multidisciplinary and will involve a number of different state-of-the-art technologies and methodologies: Computational chemistry, Chemoinformatics, Chemical synthesis, Bioanalytics and biophysics, Biochemistry, Structural Biology, In vitro biological evaluation, Molecular imaging, Metabolomics

The European Joint Doctorate TubInTrain is a EU network whose mission is to:

  • develop an Elite European Doctorate School to train Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) in the context of aging - related diseases such as neurodegeneration and cancer as well as in essential scientific, entrepreneurial and management skills;
  • create a multidisciplinary and multi-sectorial network for long-term cooperation in the research training of internationally equipped scientists for the global workplace

The enrolled ESRs will work on an integrated innovative research project aimed to:

  • investigate the basic aspects of microtubule dynamics and regulation and their interplay with cell metabolism:
  • better understand protein-protein interactions involving both tubulin and microtubule-interacting proteins in vitro and in cells;
  • study the effect of modulating microtubule system on cell biology and metabolism in experimental models of cancer and neurodegeneration.

Two secondments are planned to improve the ESR research and training programs with management skills. ESRs will benefit of lectures/Training Schools/Workshops integrating the local graduate programs. This process coaches ESRs to: rise to challenges, be flexible/adaptable, achieve valuable attributes for today’s knowledge-based environment, be ready for creative and leadership roles in industry/academy/public sectors.

An active contribution of Industry in training activities is an important feature of the programme.
